IT Secrets Competition – PCLockdown has been selected to proceed to the second stage of judging in the 2003 Secrets of Australia IT Innovation Competition. The competition will select world leading innovative Australian ICT companies to participate in major ICT industry events both nationally and internationally, and present their technologies to a global audience. The winners will also be profiled in material used to promote Australia as an innovative nation.

Developed in Hobart, PCLockdown is an e-security technology that provides a method of physically locking out the unauthorised use of networked computers in the event of building evacuation or physical security threat.

Stephen Conrad, one of the developers of the technology said that “the IT Secrets Competition will provide valuable international exposure for the technology”.


Important Pty Ltd
is a privately held Australian company that develops software and hardware solutions for local and distributed networks. Products also include an SMS gateway, software application use monitoring and e-security technologies.

About Secrets of Australian IT Innovation Competition
The competition is an opportunity for all Australian organisation's involved in the ICT sector to present their innovation and technology to a panel of judges drawn from leading research institutions, media, market research organisation's and major overseas corporations.

The competition is supported by the Innovation Access Program, which is an initiative of Backing Australia's Ability. Funding is provided jointly by the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) and the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources (DITR). The competition is also supported by The Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts and the ICT Events National Committee (ICTENC). ICTENC is made up of representatives of the State and Territory Governments, Austrade, Invest Australia, Department of Communications IT and the Arts (DCITA) and industry associations. An executive committee of ICTENC with representatives from DCITA, Austrade and Invest Australia will manage the competition in consultation with the participating State and Territory Governments.
